Since Ethereum tokens are not built into the blockchain but are smart contracts, the only people who can read the information contained within those tokens, are the owners.
Ethereum based tokens don’t have independent third-party viewers, which makes the trust in these tokens not as easily given. If viewers could display the issuance history, description, and other token and blockchain attributes publicly, it would make Ethereum based tokens more accepted.
Ethplorer is a Dapp whose goal is to achieve that very transparency for Ethereum based tokens.
View tokens developed with Ethereum ERC20 standard.
Explore contract supply, sender, receiver, and the amount of the transaction in token units.
Recently, the EIP20 protocol has been accepted by the Ethereum community and became the first standard protocol for token creation and development (ERC20). However, many tokens, including the well-known DAO and Digix tokens were created before the final version of EIP20, and were made with a few modifications that prevent them to be read correctly.
Ethplorer plans on adding functionality to support the display process of DAO and Digix tokens, including the addition of ABI for contracts which creators would provide to Ethplorer.
