ETHFI Price Jumps 15% to Lead Crypto Gainers

  • ETHFI topped the day’s gainers with a double-digit move to around $0.74 and a $718 million market cap.
  • The Liquid ETH vault now plugs into Fordefi, opening a direct route for institutional ETH deposits.
  • A Binance Web3 Wallet link lets retail users enter the vaults without manual bridging.
  • The daily RSI near 77 shows the rally is stretched and leaves room for a pullback.

ether.fi’s governance token ETHFI led the market’s daily gainers on September 12, climbing roughly 15% over 24 hours to about $0.74 and lifting its market capitalization to $718 million. The move landed as the protocol’s Liquid ETH vault picked up two new distribution rails in early September, one aimed at institutional treasuries through the custody platform Fordefi and another routing retail deposits straight out of Binance’s Web3 Wallet. Trading volume tripled to roughly $180 million during the rally, which points to fresh spot buyers rather than short covering behind the session.

A 15% day put ETHFI ahead of every major token

The token is not moving in isolation. ETHFI has behaved as a leveraged proxy on Ethereum and the restaking sector for months, and this week that beta worked in its favor. Open interest sits near $115 million on CoinGlass, climbing alongside the price, which usually signals fresh capital entering rather than shorts covering. Over seven days the token added about 32%, outpacing both the broad market and its DeFi peers.

The catalyst traders keep pointing to is concrete. Per ether.fi’s own post, the Liquid ETH vault is now live on Fordefi, letting treasuries and institutions deposit ETH directly from their Fordefi workspace into automated staking and lending strategies.

That is an adoption story with a mechanism behind it, not a chart pattern dressed up as news.

Fordefi hands corporate treasuries a one-click route into the vault

Retail integrations expand who can reach a product. The Fordefi tie changes who can reach it with size. Fordefi is a custody and treasury platform built for hedge funds, corporate treasuries, and enterprise desks, and the integration means those users can push idle ETH into the Liquid vault from the wallet where their assets already sit. That removes the operational friction that normally keeps larger balance sheets out of on-chain yield, namely moving funds to a separate front-end, approving unfamiliar contracts, and reconciling everything afterward.

The practical effect is a wider funnel at the top of the stack. Corporate ETH that would otherwise earn nothing can now be deployed without leaving an institutional-grade custody workspace, and that is the kind of primitive that compounds over quarters rather than days. Retail flows react to price. Treasury flows react to plumbing, and the plumbing just got shorter.

Deposit ETH, hold liquidETH, let the vault chase yield across four protocols

The vault works as an on-chain capital allocator. A user deposits WETH, eETH, or weETH and receives liquidETH, an ERC-20 receipt token that represents a share of the vault. Behind that token, the strategy shifts capital across established DeFi venues including Morpho Blue, Silo Finance, Balancer, and Aura, rebalancing as opportunities change rather than leaving the depositor to manage positions by hand.

Yield accrues through the vault’s share price. Instead of paying out separate reward tokens, returns compound into the pricePerShare value, so each liquidETH is worth progressively more of the underlying ETH over time. Depositors also collect ether.fi loyalty points and auxiliary rewards from the protocols the vault touches. The architecture sits on the Veda BoringVault stack, and access is geofenced, with users in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada excluded from this vault.

An RSI of 77 says the buyers are stretched

The daily chart backs up the strength but flags the risk. Price trades comfortably above both the 20-day average at $0.5909 and the 50-day average at $0.5001, with the shorter average sitting above the longer one, an alignment that describes a healthy uptrend rather than a bounce. The candles have been stacking higher lows inside a rising channel since early August.

The caution comes from the RSI. This momentum reading runs from 0 to 100, and anything above 70 marks an asset as overbought, meaning buyers have pushed hard enough that a cooling-off period often follows. At 77.19 the daily RSI is deep in that zone. It does not force a reversal, and tokens can stay overbought through a strong trend, but it does mean the next few sessions carry more downside risk than the ones that got the token here. Traders are watching the $0.735 area as the immediate ceiling. A clean daily close above it opens room toward the recent swing high near $0.765, while rejection there could send price back toward the $0.641 level where the current leg began.

Vault growth lifts TVL, but ETHFI’s value runs through staking

The Liquid suite now holds close to $410 million in total value locked, up from roughly $340 million earlier in the quarter, and the institutional rail gives that figure a plausible path to keep growing if ETH-holding treasuries follow through. The more important nuance for ETHFI holders is where that growth actually lands. ether.fi routes token buybacks through its staking business to benefit ETHFI holders, while several of its other product lines carry no direct revenue share to the token. Liquid vault fees strengthen the protocol’s balance sheet and its adoption narrative, yet they do not translate mechanically into ETHFI demand the way staking-linked buybacks do. For anyone reading the current rally, that distinction matters: the vault story is lifting sentiment and TVL now, and its effect on the token’s underlying value accrual will show up more slowly, through the staking engine rather than the vault itself.

He came in through Bitcoin in 2016, but what hooked him wasn't the price — it was the questions underneath it. Who sets the rules of a currency no government controls? Why do markets panic and euphoria arrive on schedule? Chasing those answers turned into a career: first mapping how crypto works from the inside, then following the same instincts into equities, commodities, and the macro forces that quietly steer all of it. He treats the two worlds as one story, because in practice they are. His problem with most market coverage is that it explains nothing. A headline tells you the price moved; it rarely tells you why, and the "why" is the only part worth a reader's time. So that's what he writes toward — the mechanism, the incentive, the second-order effect most people miss until it's already priced in. He holds a degree in Tourism from New Bulgarian University, which taught him more about human behavior under uncertainty than any finance program might have. Over 200 in-depth analyses and more than 10,000 articles later, he's still convinced the market has something new to teach him every single day.
