  • IOTA’s European Blockchain PCP initiative focuses on scalable, sustainable DLT solutions to enhance privacy and security in decentralized finance.
  • IOTA Rebased upgrade introduces improved interoperability, real-time financial data, and developer tools, strengthening its ecosystem in 2025.

IOTA continues to lead the way for blockchain innovation in Europe with a series of major initiatives. The IOTA Foundation’s recent success in completing the European Blockchain Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) program, funded by the European Commission, is a major move in developing Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) solutions.

These efforts, coupled with the upcoming launch of the IOTA Rebased upgrade, point to a bright future for the platform as it expands its capabilities to support decentralized applications (dApps) and bring better privacy and security to the blockchain space.

The IOTA Foundation’s European Blockchain PCP initiative has drawn attention. This project focuses on designing innovative DLT solutions for Europe, addressing scalability and sustainability challenges. The IOTA team has successfully shown that their solutions are helpful and can scale to meet the growing demands of Europe’s blockchain ecosystem.

One of the main aspects of this initiative is the development of tokenized Know Your Customer (KYC) solutions. This privacy-preserving method allows users to authenticate their identities without disclosing sensitive personal information, ensuring their data remains secure.

The KYC solution also aims to enhance the user experience in decentralized finance (DeFi) applications by simplifying compliance processes while safeguarding privacy.

Streamlining Intellectual Property Management

IOTA is also making strides in intellectual property (IP) rights management. Using DLT and smart contracts, the foundation has produced a prototype solution that automates rights management, ensuring payment transparency for artists and rights holders.

This solution streamlines the process of verifying and tracking payments. It addresses long-standing issues related to the openness of IP rights contracts, ultimately creating a better environment for creators and stakeholders.

To advance a circular economy, IOTA has introduced the concept of digital product passports. These passports provide a secure and transparent way to track the lifecycle of products, from manufacture to disposal, ensuring that products are reused, recycled, or disposed of responsibly.

This task aligns with global sustainability efforts and shows IOTA’s commitment to advancing the integration of blockchain technology in industries beyond cryptocurrency.

IOTA Rebased: A New Era for Blockchain Interoperability

Looking ahead, IOTA’s Rebased upgrade signals a move for the blockchain network. With strong support from IOTA token holders, who voted in favor of the upgrade, the network is set for a journey forward in 2025. As noted in our previous post, the mainnet launch of IOTA Rebased will introduce enhanced user interfaces, improved interoperability, and streamlined asset management tools for developers and end-users alike.

One of the upgrade’s standout features is the integration of Pyth Network Core into IOTA’s Layer 1 mainnet. Pyth’s real-time financial market data will provide major insights for decentralized applications, supporting developers with high-quality price feeds from major exchanges and market makers. This integration strengthens IOTA’s DeFi capabilities and expands its ecosystem, providing real-time data to power a range of innovative applications.

In addition to the Rebased upgrade, IOTA has focused on providing developers with the tools they need to create and deploy applications more efficiently. The release of updated Software Development Kits (SDKs) and the Move IDE plugin will simplify building decentralized applications, further boosting the network’s ecosystem.
